Spontaneous resolution of an acute subdural haematoma.
We report a case of a 47 year old man who presented with head injury due to road traffic accident, with CT scan suggestive of large left sided acute SDH with comminuted fracture of occipital bone. Within a few hours, patient showed significant neurological improvement. Follow-up CT scan revealed rapid spontaneous resolution and redistribution of the acute SDH. The proposed hypothesis explaining...

The outermost layer is the dura mater. The middle layer is the arachnoid mater. The inner layer is the pia mater. The epidural space is the space between the vertebral column and the dura mater. متن کاملSubdural haematoma: a potentially serious consequence of spontaneous intracranial hypotension.
BACKGROUND Spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) is characterised by postural headache and low opening pressure at lumbar puncture without obvious cause. Cranial magnetic resonance imaging often shows small subdural collections without mass effect, dural enhancement, venous sinus dilatation, or downward displacement of the brain. The condition is thought to be benign. OBJECTIVES To evalu...
متن کاملSpontaneous subdural haematoma in a healthy young male.
The authors present an unusual case of a healthy young male who developed a spontaneous subdural haematoma. Headache was followed by blurring of vision and left upper limb symptoms. The diagnosis was made from a CT scan. Symptoms resolved with surgical decompression. The authors explore the risk factors and pathophysiology implicated in this condition. The authors demonstrate that apparently 'h...
